Empowering Our Community: The Vision of C.O.G.I.C. Church Reformation
Within the depths of my soul, a fire burns, igniting a profound desire to uplift and empower the African American community (Jeremiah 20:9). As an Elder within the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), I recognize the immense potential of our faith and the responsibility we bear to address the challenges faced by our brothers and sisters. It is with great conviction that I advocate for Church Reformation, a movement driven by the recognition that our tithings, offerings, and donations should be utilized to fund initiatives that uplift and transform the lives of our community members living in poverty-stricken conditions. Through this reformation, we can manifest the true essence of our faith and create a future of prosperity, justice, and unity.
The Foundations of Church Reformation:
The Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), as the largest African American denomination in the United States and the world, carries immense influence and possesses the means to effect significant change. Yet, it is crucial that we reflect upon the purpose and intent of our financial contributions. Church Reformation calls for a redirection of tithings, offerings, and donations towards addressing the pressing needs of our community members who reside in poverty-stricken conditions. By leveraging the resources of our church, we have the power to alleviate suffering, promote social justice, and drive sustainable development within our community.
On June 18, 1452, Pope Nicholas V issued the papal bull, Dum Diversas. Through this proclamation, he declared that Catholic nations should condemn any enemy of Christ to eternal slavery. African and Indigenous people were not guilty of hating Christ because they did not know about this religion. They formed great nations thousands of years prior, without the help of the Catholic Church.
This reason, I Call For African American Church Reform. It's Time To TAKE THE OFF THE PRIESTLY COLLARS AND ROBES. The Catholic church is the founder of African American slavery as We Know it. And till this day holds the mental slave grip on the church. Again I say I call for National African American Church reform.
Recognizing the Reality of Poverty:
It is an undeniable truth that many members of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) find themselves trapped in poverty as a direct result of U.S. Slavery. Our pews are filled with individuals struggling to make ends meet, facing systemic barriers that impede their progress. As faithful stewards of our resources, it is our duty to prioritize the needs of our community members who are living in poverty-stricken conditions. By investing our tithes, offerings, and donations into initiatives that directly address poverty, we can break the cycle of despair and usher in a future of hope and prosperity.
Church Reformation: Funding Transformative Initiatives:
Church Reformation calls for a deliberate shift in the allocation of resources within the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.). Our financial contributions should be channeled towards initiatives that empower our community and uplift individuals from poverty. By establishing dedicated funds for anti-poverty programs, affordable housing projects, job training initiatives, and educational scholarships, we can create a safety net for our brothers and sisters who are most in need. Additionally, fostering entrepreneurship and economic empowerment within our congregations will enable community members to transcend poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.
A Call for Unity and Action:
Church Reformation cannot be achieved by the efforts of a few; it requires the collective commitment and unity of the entire Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) community. We must engage in open dialogue, fostering an environment where the voices of those living in poverty are heard and respected. By partnering with community organizations, government agencies, and other denominations, we can leverage our influence to advocate for policies that address the systemic issues contributing to poverty. Together, we can create a powerful force for change and transform the lives of countless individuals within our community.
In embracing Church Reformation, we embark on a journey of faith, compassion, and solidarity. By redirecting our tithings, offerings, and donations towards initiatives that uplift and empower those living in poverty, we honor the true essence of our faith. Let us stand united, as members of the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.), in our commitment to Church Reformation. Together, we can create a future where poverty is eradicated, justice prevails, and the African American community thrives. May our actions today pave the way for a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow.
